When a pet dies, children need more than explanations. They need comfort, language, and a way to stay connected.
For many children, the death of a pet is their first experience with grief. They may feel confused, scared, guilty, angry, or afraid they will forget the animal they loved.
The Love Light was created to give families a soft, honest, and emotionally safe way to talk about pet loss.
Through the story of Emma and Baxter, children learn that grief comes in waves, memories can still feel close, and healing does not mean loving less.
A story built around love, memory, and ritual.
The Garden Lantern
A special outdoor lantern represents the pet's enduring love and becomes a place where children can return to say hello, remember, and feel connected.
The Bedroom Lantern
A gentle bedside lantern represents the child's own healing light, offering comfort, courage, and emotional safety at night.
The Love Light Ritual
Families are invited to create their own remembering place with lanterns, memory stones, letters, photos, and simple rituals that help grief feel less lonely.
"Some lights never go out. They simply learn how to shine inside us."

Why I Created The Love Light
As a certified companion animal death doula, I have sat with dozens of families in the hardest moment of their relationship with a pet. I have watched parents search for words, and children search for permission: permission to cry, to remember, and to still feel love even after a death.
The Love Light was born from those conversations. It is the book I kept wishing I could hand to families: something honest, something warm, something that did not rush children through their grief or promise more than it could give.
It is a story, yes. But it is also an invitation: to light a lantern, to say a name, to let love stay close even when someone is gone.
"Healing does not mean loving less. It means learning that love can still stay close."
